Workshop introduction
The B Inspired workshop is exactly what the title suggests, an inspiring workshop that builds confidence in children and young adults through the power of dance. B Inspired began three years ago and has grown to be a successful tour that travels throughout the UK touching lives of all ages & backgrounds. Discover how this opportunity teaches key skills for all walks of life – more than knowing your left foot from you right...
Who are flava?
Flava are a Hip Hop dance troupe who reached the Semi Finals of ITV’s ‘Britain’s Got Talent’. The group of seven are enthusiastic and determined dancers who have all been inspired by dance. All with different backgrounds but one common ground - to share their passion for dance with as many people possible.
the Workshop
Our workshops are running during 2009 from Wednesday to Friday or Saturday to Sunday. Workshops are for up to 140 pupils of whom are split into two groups of 70, under 12 and over 12. The three day workshop is a 2 ½ hour session per day per group and the weekend workshop is a 3 ½ session per day per group. Each workshop includes a show that takes place after the final workshop with performances from Flava and the participants. Workshops are for all levels and no dance experience is necessary. Workshops can be booked during or after school hours.
what will they learn?
Primarily you’re learning how to dance. Our dance styles include Hip Hop, Lyrical and Break Dancing which is taught through two routines. The routines learnt are then showcased in the final performance. Workshops also include confidence building games, a set warm up, how to cool down and an inspirational talk. Flava have had amazing support from the police force since ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’ This is because of the positive image they have as good role models within the current ‘hoodie’ culture. As an option with the support of your local police we can tailor workshops to carry a message about ‘Youth Anti Social Behaviour’ for example, bullying, gangs or knife crime. Through our experience we have seen that additional to learning how to dance these crucial life skills have also been gained...
• Confidence
• Working with others
• Making friends
• Expressing your self
• Commitment

how Much does it cost?
The 3 day or weekend workshop is £39 per person.
This can be covered by the organiser or by the pupil.
It is to your discretion how you decide for it to be funded. All we ask is for our minimum booking to be covered. Our minimum booking is for only 70 pupils (half our maximum).
Upon booking a workshop we offer support and advice about how to make sure you fill the minimum booking. Along with ideas about fund raising within your local community and how you can inspire children to find sponsorship.
the launch day
A month before we begin the tour in your area we have a launch day. The purpose of this is for you to come and see a taster workshop of which you are invited to bring a child to take part. We also invite local businesses, community officials, the police and the press to give you the opportunity to speak to people about funding and to find out what support the police are offering. We strongly believe that you have to see it to believe it and from our experience once you’ve met Flava and seen how they work with children you will agree it is an opportunity not to be missed.
the competition
The tour stays in your area for around one month and at the end of the month we have a dance competition for everyone who took part in the tour and others in your area. The competition will be for dance troupes (just like Flava!) to battle it out for the chance to win trophies. The competition is there to encourage them to carry on dancing after the workshop. By starting a group they will already be putting the skills they learned in the workshop to practice.
and finally...
There really is so much scope for our workshops to benefit your school. Once you have booked we are here the whole way to support you in getting the most out of it as possible. We will list ideas on how to raise more funds for the school from the show, for example from raffle tickets, drinks sales or even dvd sales.
